Our Visit to the Utah State Capitol

Eric and I are having a lot of fun visiting state capitols.  Katherine, our tour guide at the Utah State Capitol told us that many people in her tour groups are keeping score of the capitols they visit.

Utah's Capitol was designed by Richard K. A. Kletting.   There were two area s of focus in designing the building:  fire proofing it with concrete and steel construction materials and including the newest conveniences.  This building opened in 1916 with electricity and elevators.

My favorite photo
of the Utah State Capitol.

Lions guard the East and
West Entrances of the building.

They are marble recreations
of the original concrete
lions created in
1915.

Utah's first and only female Governor,
Olene S. Walker.

The risers of the stairs are
metal grill work.

This marble section of wall
has a face in it.

The Utah Supreme Court

Skylights are
everywhere

Eric and I visited state capitols in  Ohio, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah.  As Eric has no interest in going to Hawaii (unless they build a bridge), so we have 45 state capitols left to visit.  Because we haven't visited the Capitol in Albany since we retired, I will report on our visit to the capitol of New York State in Albany sometime in the future.
