More Of Our Visit to Columbus, Ohio

Eric and I were charmed by the flowers we saw downtown near the State House.  There were flower gardens on corners, huge flower pots, hanging flower baskets.  There's a crew of people in downtown Columbus taking care of these every day.  They don't look tired or dried out.  One corner garden had just been replanted with mums for the fall.

I liked the architecture.  I don't know much about the topic, bur some basic themes lept out at me.  Pillars are popular, whether they are real or "bump outs" to give the impression of pillars from a distance.

Columbus has a diamond exchange.  Very cool.  I wonder if some of the many men walking around in suits had diamonds in their pockets.

From a distance, Eric and I saw a "Ghost Buster Building."
The LeVeque Tower is a beautiful example of Art Deco with
step backs and a tower.  Up close, the building is
constructed with light tan stone.  From a distance, it looks
white, possibly marble.

I liked the curved angle of the building on the left.  The kink of tiered effect of the shorter building  in the front made me think of a cake.

Columbus City Hall.  This is a side entrance.

This is the front of City Hall with a massive statue of Christopher Columbus.

I'm very impressed with the ornate doorways.

This pic shows the hold out to real estate development.  Look at how short the brick building is.  It's just a few rooms deep and it stands in the middle of an area with government buildings and looming bank building towers.
