The Colorado River RV Campground in Columbus, Texas

Join me for a walk around

Eric and I shat at Thousand Trails RV Parks because we paid for a Membership.   Our stays are free to $3.00 per night, depending on the individual Campground's add-ons that we choose to pay for.

Traveling West to Columbus, Texas

Eric and I completed our drive south along The Great River Road from the Headwaters of the Mississippi River in Minnesota to Venice, Louisiana the farthest south anyone can drive near the River.  It's time to turn west and drive to Columbus, Texas.

Eric & I settled in at Site E 37.

The Voltage is OK here.  Eric and I prefer a Voltage closer to 120 than 113.  The water and sewer are connected.  It's time to take care of the necessities (cleaning and laundry), get some groceries, and enjoy an open schedule with "no particular place to go."

The Last Mississippi River Post: Driving to the End of the Road in Louisiana, Venice

The Mississippi River flows southeast from New Orleans to the Gulf of Mexico.  Eric and I drive Louisiana Highway 23 South 76 miles to Venice.  It is the farthest south along the River that can be reached by car.

From Venice, the Mississippi River continues southeast to the Gulf. https://www.experiencemississippiriver.com/pdf/EMR-Detailed-Map.pdf

Eric & I are at the southernmost point in the Gulf.

We drove about 1,600 miles in 12 days following the Mississippi River south from its headwaters at Lake Itasca, Minnesota to the southernmost point in Venice, Louisiana.  It was a wonderful drive and we recommend The Great River Road to anyone interested in making the drive.
