Returning to the Movie Theater: Watching Black Widow @ Bow Tie Cinemas Movieland in Schenectady, NY

The last movie Eric and I saw in a theater is Birds of Prey on March 7, 2020, in Palmdale, California.

Sixteen months later, Eric and I are at Bow Tie Cinemas Movieland to see a matinee showing Marvel's Black Widow in downtown Schenectady, New York.

Eric and I choose our seats.  (I like this option.)  We buy popcorn with a soda to share and enter the theater.  The theater lights go down, the previews start, and three other moviegoers join us.  Matinee goers don't get the communal experience of a room full of laughs and/or groans, as we react to what we see and hear, but we get lots of space to ourselves and the movie becomes a personal experience.

Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff, played by Scarlet Johansson) reunites with her childhood family, and sparks fly...  among Mom, Dad, long lost Sister, Yelena.   The action is much more intense when confronting an international band of baddies (fists, weapons, explosions).

Marvel's Universe of Superheroes continues to evolve... and I won't drop any spoilers.

Eric and I love being back at the movies!

Celerbrating The Anniversary of Our First Date @ Yanni's Too in Coeymans, New York

Rain or shine Yanni's Too is the place to celebrate a special date...

... our first date on July 11, 1975.

Eric looks out at Coeymans
 Hudson River.

The marina hugs the western shoreline at Coeymans.

Our appetizer is Calamari 4 Way,
includes portions tossed in Lemon
Garlic Wine Sauce, Chipolte Style,
 & Rhode Island Style
 with Marinara.

It's a quiet afternoon on the Hudson River.  Eric and I reminisce about our first date and the many, many others that have filled our 46 years together...

A Swan glides by, inspecting the moored boats.

Eric's lunch is Blackened Scallops
with Horseradish Sauce, Rice,
Broccoli, Carrots, & Red Cabbage.

My lunch choice is The Sea
Captain's Basket with Fried
White Fish, Scallops, Shrimp,
Clams, French Fries, & Coleslaw
 with Tartar & Cocktail Sauces.

Schenectady County's Murals...

I found an article in the May 2, 2021 Edition of The Daily Gazette featuring Schenectady County's murals.  Eric and I picked a "fairly dry" day and drove to Schenectady.

this colorful, thoughtful mural.

of the world.

Jerry Burrell Park has
hosted murals for years.

Eric and I enjoyed exploring Schenectady's neighborhoods and Collins Park as we looked for the murals in The Daily Gazette article.  I hope that more organizations and businesses in Schenectady County host murals.  They add color to buildings and share messages unique to each building that sponsors a mural.

As we wait to turn northeast
onto Broadway,
 I admire this sign.

Eric designed it and recommended its placement, behind the sidewalk to preserve it.  The previous signs at this intersection were knocked down regularly.   It's been standing for about 15 years and provides important information for drivers driving southwest on Broadway.
